seL4 on RISC-V: Toward a Secure and High-Performance AI Platform

September 17, 2025

The seL4 Summit 2025 took place on September 3–5 at the Grandior Hotel Prague, Czech Republic. As the annual international gathering of the seL4 community, the summit brought together developers, researchers, and industry partners to share the latest progress, real-world applications, and future plans of the world’s most highly assured OS kernel.

Porting seL4 on RISC-V

Yuning Liang’s session introduced the technical journey of bringing the seL4 microkernel to RISC-V platforms, and how this combination can enable trusted, high-performance AI PCs. We explored the advantages of seL4’s formally verified security alongside the openness and flexibility of RISC-V, paving the way for AI workloads such as local execution of large language models (LLMs) on secure platforms.

Growing the seL4 Ecosystem

DeepComputing is committed to supporting the seL4 ecosystem on RISC-V. By working closely with the community, we can accelerate upstreaming, broaden adoption in AI and edge computing, and strengthen confidence in verified security.

We warmly invite developers, partners, and enthusiasts to join us in this journey—together we can make seL4 on RISC-V a powerful foundation for the next generation of secure and open computing.

Forward-looking

Together with partners such as UISEE and ESWIN Computing, we are building next-generation automotive solutions powered by RISC-V.

We’re also launching an open-source project support program to empower communities contributing to RISC-V software development, including projects like the seL4 microkernel.

By bringing developers, researchers, and industry partners together, we can drive innovation, enhance reliability, and create real-world impact. Stay tuned for more updates!
