Lomiri Tech Meeting Recap: Open Linux UX Meets RISC-V Computing

June 2, 2026

The Lomiri Tech Meeting, held on May 16–17 in Tilburg, the Netherlands, and organized by OpenSource Science B.V., brought together developers, innovators, and open-source contributors passionate about Linux user experiences, mobile convergence, and the future of computing.

The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for the community to discuss the evolution of open-source interfaces, advances in Linux-based system design, and the role of emerging hardware platforms in delivering seamless, adaptable user experiences across devices.

The Future of RISC-V and Lomiri

During the event, Yuning Liang, Founder and CEO of DeepComputing, shared insights into the current progress and future direction of the RISC-V ecosystem, with a particular focus on its relationship with Lomiri and open-source Linux platforms.

The presentation explored the rapid growth of RISC-V as an open instruction set architecture (ISA) and highlighted how its openness is driving innovation across both hardware and software development. Yuning discussed emerging opportunities in open hardware, the increasing maturity of RISC-V platforms, and their potential to power the next generation of laptops, mobile devices, and embedded systems.

A key theme of the session was the convergence of RISC-V and Linux-based ecosystems such as Lomiri. The discussion examined how open hardware and open-source software can evolve together to provide users and developers with greater flexibility, transparency, and control over their computing platforms.
