FOSDEM 2026 marked a major milestone for the RISC-V ecosystem and DeepComputing’s role in advancing open hardware and software. Held in Brussels, FOSDEM brought together thousands of developers, researchers, and open-source advocates — and this year saw several firsts and strategic launches.
For the first time in FOSDEM history, RISC-V International had an official presence, signaling broader ecosystem recognition and momentum for the RISC-V architecture. This participation underscores RISC-V’s transition from a niche ISA to a mainstream open-hardware standard.




DeepComputing delivered a strong and sustained presence at FOSDEM, contributing six in-depth technical and ecosystem-focused talks across multiple tracks. Beyond sharing concrete progress in RISC-V software, AI acceleration, and system enablement, these sessions reflected DeepComputing’s broader commitment to collaborating with upstream communities and industry partners to move the RISC-V ecosystem forward.


Following SpacemiT’s announcement of the industry’s first RISC-V AI SoC, K3, supporting the RVA23 profile, DeepComputing is advancing the development of a next-generation RISC-V laptop mainboard based on this SoC.
The DC-ROMA RISC-V Mainboard III for Framework Laptop 13, built on K3, is planned for official release in the near future, further strengthening and expanding the open laptop ecosystem powered by RISC-V.
At FOSDEM, DeepComputing officially launched the “100 RISC-V Open Source Projects Program” initiative, aimed at accelerating ecosystem maturity and expanding real-world RISC-V software enablement.
The launch also opened the door to several promising collaboration discussions with open-source communities. DeepComputing engaged with multiple project teams, including Sunflower, RockyLinux, VLC, AOSP, NixOS, SNiC Congress, OpenBAO, and RISC-V Stack, exploring joint work in areas such as tooling integration, shared libraries, and build infrastructure optimization for RISC-V platforms. These emerging partnerships are expected to strengthen technical alignment and significantly improve the developer experience across the open-source stack.
