DeepComputing at RISC-V Summit NA and Ubuntu Summit 2024 Celebrating Collaboration and Community Growth

November 5, 2024

This past month, DeepComputing proudly attended two major industry events—the RISC-V Summit North America and the Ubuntu Summit 2024. Both summits offered incredible opportunities to showcase our latest advancements in RISC-V technology, connect with the community, and celebrate the rapid progress of open-source innovation.

RISC-V Summit North America 2024

At the RISC-V Summit North America, DeepComputing took center stage with an impressive booth showcasing our lineup of RISC-V innovations. Attendees had the chance to explore our RISC-V AI PC powered by Andes QiLai SoC, the versatile DC-ROMA Laptop II, the DC-ROMA Pad II, and our highly anticipated Framework laptop featuring the DC-ROMA RISC-V Mainboard. Each product embodies our commitment to bringing high-performance, open-source solutions to developers worldwide.

David Patterson, a co-inventor of RISC architecture and an icon in the field, stopped by our booth to check out our latest innovations, further underscoring the significance of our work in the RISC-V ecosystem.

A highlight of the summit was Yuning’s keynote speech, Making RISC-V Real, Fast, which he shared with influential partners from across the RISC-V ecosystem. Joining him were Nirav Patel,Framework founder and CEO, Robert Nelson who initially inspired the development of our RISC-V mainboard for Framework laptops, and Jeffrey Osier-Mixon, Strategic Representative of RISC-V Board of Directors also present, underscoring his commitment to supporting Fedora on the RISC-V-powered DC-ROMA and Framework mainboard. Their joint keynote emphasized the significance of collaboration in driving RISC-V adoption and innovation.

We’re also thrilled to announce that Yuning received the RISC-V Community Contributor Award! This recognition is a testament to his dedication and the collective efforts of the DeepComputing team and partners who are actively advancing the RISC-V ecosystem.

Ubuntu Summit 2024

Our presence at the Ubuntu Summit 2024 brought another exciting opportunity to evangelize RISC-V to a passionate community. The Ubuntu community’s enthusiasm for RISC-V’s rapid growth was palpable, with many attendees excited to explore the expanding role of RISC-V in high-performance computing and AI.

At the summit, Yuning joined forces with Gordan Markuš, Director of Silicon Alliances at Canonical and Nirav Patel, Framework founder and CEO to deliver the impactful talk, “Unstoppable Force Behind Linux on RISC-V.” Together, they highlighted the importance of open-source platforms, specifically Ubuntu Desktop 24.10, in accelerating innovation on RISC-V and expanding opportunities for developers worldwide. Their insights underscored the synergy between RISC-V and Ubuntu and inspired further contributions from the Linux community toward RISC-V development.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up an exciting month, DeepComputing remains committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with RISC-V. Our collaborations with Framework, Canonical, and others are only the beginning. We look forward to seeing how these alliances will inspire new developments across the RISC-V and open-source ecosystems, and we’re excited to continue working with the community to build a truly open and innovative tech future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the RISC-V Summit NA and Ubuntu Summit 2024. Here’s to a bright future for RISC-V!
