Building the Next Generation of Innovators: Bringing RISC-V and Open Source into the Classroom with Guangdong Zhongyuan High School

September 7, 2026

On September 1, 2026, DeepComputing Founder & CEO Yuning Liang attended the opening ceremony of Guangdong Zhongyuan High School, joining the inauguration of the school’s Youth Academy of Sciences and the partnership plaque presentation ceremony.

The event marked a new milestone in the collaboration between DeepComputing and Zhongyuan High School, the first pilot school of DeepComputing’s 100 Schools & Universities Program. As part of the collaboration, DeepComputing has supported the establishment of a RISC-V Lab at the school, creating a hands-on environment for students to explore RISC-V, open-source technologies, AI and future computing.

The newly inaugurated Youth Academy of Sciences is designed to connect classroom learning with scientific research, engineering practice, and real-world industry applications. Its educational model brings together teachers, university professors, and industry engineers to give students opportunities to engage in emerging fields through courses, hands-on projects, and collaborative research.

DeepComputing’s collaboration with Zhongyuan High School fits directly into this vision. Beyond providing hardware and facilities, the partnership reflects a broader commitment to making open technologies more accessible to the next generation and giving students opportunities to engage with the technologies shaping the future.

As the first pilot of the 100 Schools & Universities Program, Zhongyuan High School represents the starting point of an initiative designed to connect schools and universities with RISC-V hardware, open-source software, industry expertise and hands-on learning opportunities.

“Open source is not only about technology — it is about giving people the freedom to explore, understand and create,” said Yuning Liang, Founder & CEO of DeepComputing. “Through our 100 Schools & Universities Program, we hope to give more young people the opportunity to engage with RISC-V, AI and open technologies, turning curiosity into hands-on experience and, eventually, innovation.”

Open-source technologies offer students something beyond access to technology: the opportunity to understand how it works. As an open instruction set architecture, RISC-V provides a foundation for exploring computing across hardware, operating systems, software, and emerging AI applications. Combined with hands-on learning, it can help students move beyond simply using technology toward understanding the systems behind it.

Looking ahead, DeepComputing plans to expand collaboration with more schools, universities, educators and open-source communities, exploring new ways to bring RISC-V, open-source technologies and industry resources into education. Through these efforts, DeepComputing aims not only to advance the RISC-V ecosystem today, but also to help cultivate the developers, engineers and innovators who will shape the future of open computing.
